L&T’s CSR booster for rural schools in three states

Infrastructure augmentation in schools, both in urban and rural communities, is one of the action areas of L&T’s CSR programme.  In the short term, it benefits the students – and in the long term, it moves the next generation on to a higher trajectory of literacy. Here’s a snapshot of a few recent projects we have undertaken to make learning effective and enjoyable for the underprivileged.

Smart School – Navsari

On 20th February 2023, L&T Smart World & Communication (SWC) and L&T Public Charitable Trust (LTPCT) launched the ‘Smart School’ programme at KVS High School at Kharel in Gujarat’s Navsari district.

Digitising many of the school’s systems, the smart school programme enhances the classroom experience for students through enhanced interactivity. This includes multimedia, comprehensive development of school pedagogy, and making smart use of technology such as interactive displays, network connectivity, and smart attendance systems.

These will help the children improve learning abilities, familiarise themselves with technology and understand critical concepts through interactive digital leaning methods in which their teachers have been trained.

Infrastructure Upgrade – Moradabad

Basic facilities and beautification of schools play a crucial role in increasing attendance. Keeping this in mind, SWC undertook a school development project at Manoharpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district.

The Composite School at Lodhipur Rajput was structurally strengthened, its roof was renovated and made leak-proof. Attractive educative graffiti made on the school walls help children visualise what they study, thus aiding recall.

Modern and inviting, the newly renovated school is witnessing a rise in attendance as the children enjoy studying in the vibrant environment. Since the renovation, the school has seen a fresh enrolment of 400 children.

School Facelift – Chengalpattu

At Mukundagiri village in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpattu district, SWC has given a complete facelift to a 100-year-old Government Primary School.

The school building was renovated, the classrooms digitised, and new toilets constructed, benefiting over 100 students and teachers. The Chengalpattu District Collector inaugurated the renovated school premises on 2nd February, 2023.
