3 Million Saplings | 500+ Project Sites | 1 Mega Initiative
L&T’s sustainability efforts, like many of our projects, can also be on a ‘mega’ scale. An ambitious afforestation campaign, 'Project Green Hands', driven by L&T Construction kicked off on 15th August with a target of planting 1.5 million trees over a period of 2 weeks. The saplings selected represented a wide spectrum of tree species, carefully chosen to promote biodiversity and enrich regional ecosystems.
By the end of its run the initiative saw the planting of more than 3 million saplings across more than 500 project sites of L&T, far surpassing the original target. This milestone underscores our dedication to realising a greener future and fostering ecological resilience. The well-executed campaign leveraged the monsoon season to ensure optimal survivability of the saplings and was meticulously executed across diverse construction sites, through the collective effort of our employees and workmen.
Project Green Hands is expected to yield tangible benefits in terms of business sustainability, carbon credits, and nurturing a healthy ecosystem. The project aims to extend beyond its environmental significance to also align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The initiative also reaffirms our commitment to achieve Water and Carbon Neutrality by 2035 & 2040 respectively.
