L&T employees have always been an integral part of the social consciousness that the Company exhibits. Many employees extend their hearts and minds for causes that can bring joy into people’s lives.
Daan Utsav, an all-India ‘sharing’ festival is celebrated every year with little acts of kindness and innovative ways of giving. During the festival, L&T-ites at various locations celebrate the joy of giving in many forms. While some donate money, others donate clothes, toys, utensils and Diwali gifts. L&T-ites are also generous with their time and spread warmth as they visit residents at various institutions.
The Joy of Giving, in 2020-21
This year L&T CSR celebrated Daan Utsav across its offices in India by engaging employees in various acts of giving. A hybrid approach was undertaken this year considering the COVID-19 situation. While a part of the Daan Utsav campaign was conducted virtually, many L&T offices/campuses conducted in-person activities following Covid protocols. -
A week of kindness and pledges for positive change
L&T-ites across campuses and offices performed random acts of kindness during the week that included donating sanitizer and masks, planting a sapling, sharing a gratitude note with someone who made a difference, gifting books/stationery to children in need, sharing chocolates with the support staff, providing meals to the needy and many more.
They also pledged to bring a positive change in and around them – whether it be to start recycling and using natural resources cautiously or to acknowledge and appreciate the small efforts people make around them irrespective of their social status.
Recycling Initiatives
L&Teers got together to contribute to a greener planet by collecting and recycling around 3000 kgs of wastepaper into notebooks. These notebooks were donated to underprivileged children in Powai, Mumbai.
Paint for a Cause
At a diya painting activity organised at L&T’s Mumbai Landmarkoffice, employees enthusiastically painted and decorated 150 earthen diyas which were then gifted to a children’s home in Mumbai with the hope of bringing more joy in their lives.
Contribution in kind
Many L&Teers across India donated clothes and bedsheets, toys, games school material, grains, provisions that were distributed to those in need and various shelter homes, in the respective cities and locations.
Contribution in cash
L&T Coimbatore campus raised ₹24,000/- to support college education of two children from Sathya Jeevan Home for children. Further ₹59,300/- was raised to provide cooking items to two charity homes - Eera Nenjam and Helping Hearts – supporting 200 needy individuals.
